The words in this Sunday’s scripture readings are words of hope for a struggling community. The Israelites had been taken to Babylon and were getting too comfortable there. The prophet Isaiah reminds them, and us, that the God of liberation hasn’t abandoned them and will lead them home if they will trust and follow.
