Welcome Newcomers

Hello and welcome!

We’re excited that you’re thinking of visiting us! We understand that visiting a church for the first time can be intimidating, so feel free to browse over our frequently asked questions listed below.

If your question was not answered, or if you have any additional questions, please reach out to our church office at (425) 747-3210 or stpeters1@msn.com

FAQ

We have one Sunday service. Join us in person or via Zoom at 10:30 am. Contact our church office for connection information. For the in-church worship, masks are optional.

Our main entrance is off of N.E. 8th. It has a level entrance without stairs, for ease of access for strollers, walkers and wheel chairs.

We have two lots. If the front lot (on N.E. 8th) is full, proceed by connected drive to the back lot. You can also reach our back lot via Northup Way.

There is plenty of room for everyone, and a number of handicapped accessible spots near the front door.

There are several bus stops flanking our front and back driveways, so it’s just a short walk.

When you come into the sanctuary,  please sign in. An usher will help you get a program and find you a seat.

We have a variety of dressing styles in the congregation. If you like to dress up a bit for church, you won’t be the only one. We also have plenty of people who come in comfortable weekend clothes.

If your children are comfortable attending the service, we offer a children’s moment.

There are male and female bathrooms clearly marked on both floors of the building. Those on the ground level are just across the sanctuary to the left of the drinking fountain. In the back of the church, go downstairs and turn right to find another set. You can find two uni-sex (gender neutral) bathrooms at the base of the front stairs.

Please call the church office for our nursery information.

Yes! Go right ahead. Our Twitter feed is @St_PetersUMC and Facebook page is SPUMCBellevue.

If you’re quietly checking your phone, we probably won’t even notice. We do appreciate you turning off your ringer and not answering calls during the service, though.

Bible – you should see a Bible. The first section is the Old Testament and the second section is the New Testament. When we come to the part of the service for a Bible reading, you can follow along with the Bible in your hands, or see the passage displayed on the screen.

Hymnal – Book of songs we sing during the service.

The Faith We Sing – thinner, soft cover hymnal which is an addendum to the Hymnal

Church members and visitors tend to distribute themselves around the sanctuary; some people have their “regular” spots; some people switch it up frequently. If you’re comfortable nearer to the front, don’t be shy! If you’d rather sit where you can see everyone from the back that is absolutely fine.

We have a spot on the right side of the sanctuary for wheelchairs. Let the usher know if you need an assisted hearing device.

Not a problem! There is never a service without a few people showing up after we start. Grab a program (bulletin), have a seat, and make yourself at home!

YES! We’re definitely a pretty laid-back congregation, and plenty of guests and members bring their coffee along.

Our services are structured, but not stuffy. There’s an order to things. Certain recitations in places. A well-timed and meaningful sermon. The projection screen guides the way.

Communion is a part of the service to receive bread and wine (we actually use juice) to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. All are invited to celebrate communion, but you can choose whether or not you wish to participate.

It’s time for conversation and snacks in Fellowship Hall, the room across from the sanctuary! The pastor will be there, so if you’d like to talk to him yourself, that is a good time to catch him. Otherwise, help yourself to some goodies and make yourself at home!

Masks are optional. Ventilation is important. We open a window and also have two air purifiers in the Sanctuary. Hand sanitizer is readily available and cleaning protocols are followed. ~ updated 4/03/23
